Noida: Two persons have been arrested for black marketing of oxygen cylinders in the Sector 9 area, the Noida police said on Thursday.
Cops nabbed the duo from near Mahila Park in Sector 5 on Wednesday, after a video of them selling the oxygen cylinders for anywhere between Rs 4,000 and Rs 8,000 went viral.
The accused have been identified as Harola’s Shyam Sharma and Devendra, a resident of Delhi. Four cylinders, a refilling pipe and Rs 780 in cash have been recovered from their possession.
Sector 20 SHO Munish Chauhan said , “The accused had been selling the small cylinders for Rs 4,000 and the big ones for Rs 8,000.” An FIR has been lodged under various sections of the IPC, including 188 (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant) and 420 (cheating), and Section 3 of the Epidemic Act.
In Surajpur too, the local police have arrested a youth for allegedly creating fake oxygen flow meters and selling each for Rs 5,000-Rs 6,000. The accused identified as Shaukeen, a resident of Chithera village of Dadri, owns a worksman shop on the Surajpur main road. He was arrested on Wednesday.
Three fake oxygen flow meters, 18 oxygen regulators, 12 regulator caps, 45 bottles of milk and 22 caps of nozzles have been seized from his possession. Surajpur SHO Ajay Kumar said, “The accused repairs gas stoves but taking advantage of the crisis, he started making fake flow meters and was selling each for Rs 5,000.”
