Two months after the order, no RWA elections in Ghaziabad yet

The RWA elections in societies were first hampered due to pandemic and when the situation became better two months ago, the deputy registrar of societies ordered the facilitation of elections. “There are over 50 societies where RWA elections have not been held in years. The pandemic delayed the elections. Besides, in many societies, maintenance is not handed over to bonafide RWA by the developers. “ This is another nagging issue that is holding up elections in a number of societies. Developers in many societies don’t want to lose control over it as it fetches them money and they try to stall the election process. An official from the district magistrate who is part of the panel said, “ we are buried in routine work and as a result are unable to take part in the process of conducting elections.” Meanwhile, district magistrate RK Singh said that the administrative roadblocks that have led to delaying of society elections will be removed soon.
